Auditory and Hearing Assessment in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

The Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation is offering awards of up to $250,000 over two years to support multidisciplinary projects developing and evaluating accurate, accessible, and sensory-friendly hearing assessment models for autistic individuals, particularly nonverbal or minimally verbal adults. Projects may incorporate adapted behavioral and objective auditory tests, emerging technologies, caregiver-reported outcomes, and practical clinical, community, or telehealth applications. Eligible applicants include accredited universities, medical or research centers, and nonprofit institutes with expertise in autism, hearing science, or sensory processing; proposals must include inclusive recruitment, ethical human-subjects protections, and stakeholder engagement. Applications are due September 8, 2026, with second-year funding contingent on satisfactory progress.
