AVMA/AVMF 2nd Opportunity Summer Research Stipend

About this program

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) offer the 2nd Opportunity Summer Research Stipend to support veterinary students pursuing a second summer of research experience. Five recipients receive a $6,700 research stipend and $1,500 toward travel to the Veterinary Scholars Symposium. Applicants must be enrolled in an AVMA Council on Education-accredited veterinary school, have completed a prior summer research project, and not hold or pursue a graduate degree. They must also submit an abstract for presentation at the NIH Veterinary Scholars Symposium, with applications accepted October 1–31 and one nominee permitted per school.
