Award for Excellence in Journalism

About this program

The American Psychoanalytic Association’s Committee on Public Information offers a $1,000 Award for Excellence in Journalism, recognizing outstanding public-facing reporting or short-form writing that uses psychoanalytic perspectives to illuminate human behavior, relationships, mental health, or complex social issues. The recipient will also be recognized at APsA’s National Meeting. Authors or nominators may submit English-language work first published for a general audience between September 1, 2025, and August 30, 2026; submissions must demonstrate psychoanalytic principles and meet journalistic standards. Entries are due by 8:00 p.m. EST on September 30, 2026, and must include specified author, publication, date, link, and nomination details.
