Basmajian Award

About this program

The American Association for Anatomy (AAA) offers the Basmajian Award to recognize early-career health science faculty who teach human or veterinary gross anatomy and demonstrate excellence in teaching alongside outstanding biomedical research or educational scholarship. The award includes a $2,000 honorarium, two years of AAA membership and Annual Meeting registration, and up to $1,500 in travel reimbursement to attend the award presentation. Nominees must be within 10 years of their highest earned degree; nominators must be AAA members, although nominees need not be members. Materials include a nomination form, CV, teaching and research documentation, representative publications, and three recommendation letters, including one from a chair, chief, or dean; nominations are due October 19, 2026.
