About this program

The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) is seeking members for its Historic Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC), which advises on policy and recommends awards exceeding $20,000 for the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants program, funded by the Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Members serve a two-year term, attend two annual meetings, review and score grant applications, and help guide statewide historic preservation and history funding. Applicants should have knowledge or skills relevant to historic preservation, local history, archaeology, archives, or related cultural programs, and be able to independently evaluate applications, participate constructively, follow conflict-of-interest policies, and use MNHS’s grant portal. MNHS especially encourages candidates from greater Minnesota, culturally specific organizations underrepresented in the program, and professionals with historic preservation or archival expertise; applications for terms beginning January 1, 2027, are due September 7, 2026.
