Beinecke Library Research Fellowships for Graduate Students

About this program

Yale University’s Beinecke Library offers competitive residential fellowships of $5,000 per month to support one- to four-month onsite research visits to Yale Library Special Collections, with applications opening June 1, 2026, due September 15, 2026, and fellowship periods falling between June 1, 2027 and May 31, 2028 (decisions by January 31, 2027). Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate degree program at the time of the fellowship and be at an advanced stage of research or prospectus development with a fully conceptualized, degree-related project. Applications are submitted via Interfolio and must include a CV (3 pages max), a 1,200-word research proposal, a detailed list of materials to be consulted, and one confidential letter of recommendation; fellows are expected to be primarily onsite in the reading room and are responsible for reporting the award to their home institution and paying any applicable taxes.
