Beyond the Net Grant Program

About this program

The Internet Society Foundation’s Beyond the Net Grant Program funds Internet Society Chapters to implement local projects that expand meaningful access to an open, trusted, and globally connected Internet, supporting thematic areas such as community-centered connectivity, affordable/reliable access (e.g., IXPs), online trust and safety, and advocacy for an open Internet. Applications (submitted via the Fluxx grants system) are evaluated on alignment with program objectives, clear KPIs and workplan, community partnerships, and appropriate technical/equipment needs. Eligible applicants are ISOC Chapters in good standing with an official bank account, up-to-date reporting, and not in election or rejuvenation periods; chapters may manage up to two concurrent BtN grants (maximum total USD 55,000) and must allow at least eight weeks before project start. Larger awards carry additional requirements: projects over USD 20,000 are committee‑reviewed, projects or portfolios over USD 35,000 require prior grant management experience, chapter officers’ compensation is capped at 20% of the grant, and all grantees must comply with reporting, audit, anti‑fraud and anti‑lobbying rules.
