Frontiers Clinical & Translational Science Institute offers the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Trailblazer Award—an annual competitive grant of up to $20,000 to support development of novel statistical, epidemiological, bioinformatics, and data‑science methods that improve clinical and translational research inferences. Projects should focus on methodology or analyses applicable across disease areas and relevant to clinical and translational research. Eligible principal investigators must be Frontiers members, eligible to receive federal funding, and employed by a Frontiers partner institution (Children's Mercy Kansas City; Kansas State University; Saint Luke's, BJC Health West Region; University of Kansas including KU Medical Center and KU Health System; or University of Missouri–Kansas City); applicants may submit to multiple funding mechanisms but may serve as PI on only one application per year and may participate as collaborators on additional proposals. One award is made annually; applications are not currently being accepted.
