About this program

The European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EACTAIC) funds Research Grants up to €30,000 (or up to three €10,000 minor grants) to support original research in cardiothoracic and vascular anaesthesia and intensive care. Applications use the EACTAIC form submitted to the Executive Office/Scientific Secretariat, are scored by the Scientific Committee and ratified by the Board, with awardees announced at the EACTAIC Annual Congress. Eligible applicants must be EACTAIC members aged 40 or younger who are intending specialists or in the early years of appointment as cardiothoracic specialists, and proposals must originate from an anaesthesiology/critical care department addressing cardiothoracic/vascular anaesthesia or intensive care. Submissions require a full research protocol (background, hypothesis, methods, statistical plan and power analysis where applicable, timeline and realistic budget), institutional support letters and evidence of seeking other funding; 2026 applications open 1 April and close 1 July.
