BoRSF Research & Development — Research Competitiveness Subprogram (RCS)

About this program

The Board of Regents Support Fund (BoRSF) Research & Development Program provides competitive grants through three subprograms: the Research Competitiveness Subprogram (RCS) to build fundamental research capacity, the Industrial Ties Research Subprogram (ITRS) with a Proof‑of‑Concept/Prototyping Initiative to advance commercialization, and the ATLAS subprogram to support major scholarly and artistic projects. RCS targets investigators at Louisiana public and private universities who are not yet competitive for federal funding, supporting fundamental scientific and engineering research (including one‑year pilot awards) aimed at achieving near‑term federal competitiveness. ITRS requires significant private or federal funding participation or a credible plan to leverage such funding and a demonstrated linkage to establishing or enhancing Louisiana businesses or industries, with the Proof‑of‑Concept component focused on technology transfer toward commercialization. ATLAS is open to faculty in arts, humanities, and social sciences at Louisiana institutions and funds projects judged on scholarly or artistic merit, originality, necessity, and potential regional to international impact.
