The British Academy, in collaboration with the Honor Frost Foundation, funds small research grants to support maritime archaeology and maritime cultural heritage studies. Awards normally do not exceed £10,000, are tenable for up to 24 months, and typically cover research costs including travel and publication (conference or seminar attendance is not eligible); around three awards are made each year. Grants are offered under the British Academy’s Small Grants scheme and adjudicated by its Research Awards Committee; the lead applicant must be a UK-based scholar, while projects have no regional focus.
