CAL FIRE Forest Health Program Grant Opportunity

About this program

CAL FIRE is accepting applications for Forest Health Program Grants for FY 2025–26 to support landscape-scale projects that improve forest and watershed resilience, reduce wildfire risk, restore ecosystems, and increase long-term carbon storage across California. Funding is available through Proposition 4 and the California Climate Investments Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, with typical awards of $1 million to $8 million and projects completed by January 31, 2031.

Eligible projects may include fuels reduction, prescribed or cultural burning, reforestation, post-fire restoration, pest management, biomass utilization, watershed restoration, and Tribal land stewardship. Applicants must submit concept proposals by March 30, 2026; full proposals are by invitation and due June 8, 2026, and separate applications are required for consideration under both funding sources.
