About this program
The California State Treasurer’s Office offers Cal IIP grants to strengthen certified community development financial institutions (CDFIs) serving economically disadvantaged California communities through technical assistance, capital access, operations, and expanded lending capacity. The program anticipates $10 million in state funding, with 20% reserved for small and emerging CDFIs; awards support a three-year period and require no matching funds. Applicants must be currently federally certified CDFIs with at least $25,000 in net worth, five loans in the prior 12 months, a California office or qualifying California lending record, and at least $10 million in California financial assistance over the previous three years. Applications are due October 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. PT.
