California Serves Grant Program 2026-27

About this program

The California Department of Education offers the California Serves Grant Program to expand access to high-quality service-learning programs that help grade twelve students earn the State Seal of Civic Engagement. With up to $5 million available annually, funds may support teacher planning, professional development, instructional materials, student participation, coordination, and evaluation activities; matching funds are not required.

Eligible applicants are California local educational agencies—school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools—that serve grade twelve students and have at least 55% unduplicated pupil enrollment. Applicants must submit a Notice of Intent to Apply by September 8, 2026, and complete applications by October 5, 2026.
