Capacity Building in International Dementia Research (CBIDR) Program

About this program

The Alzheimer’s Association and Global Brain Health Institute at UCSF offer the Capacity Building in International Dementia Research Grant to strengthen sustainable dementia research infrastructure in institutions located in low- and middle-income countries. Support may fund training, culturally appropriate tools, databases, research personnel, community engagement, workshops, and protected research time, but not traditional research studies, facility construction, or major equipment over $10,000 per item. Eligible applicants must be full-time faculty or employees of an LMIC institution with active or recently completed research funding, and senior applicants must demonstrate plans to develop junior faculty. Awards support three to five years, with budgets generally capped at $250,000 annually and $1 million total; letters of intent are due June 3, 2026, and full applications September 2, 2026.
