About this program

The University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Cardiorenal and Metabolic Disease Research Center offers COBRE Pilot Project Grants to generate preliminary data and strengthen investigators’ competitiveness for extramural funding in obesity, cardiorenal, and metabolic disease research. Awards provide $60,000 for one year, with potential renewal for an additional year, and include access to CMDRC research cores and mentoring. UMMC faculty of any rank may lead projects, although new and early-stage investigators and established investigators pursuing a substantially new research direction receive priority. Applicants must secure required IACUC or IRB approval by the expected award date and are expected to publish findings, pursue extramural funding, and participate in CMDRC activities.
