Career Award for STEM Teachers

About this program

The Burroughs Wellcome Fund’s Career Award for STEM Teachers provides $175,000 over five years to recognize and support outstanding STEM teachers in North Carolina public primary and secondary schools, promoting professional development, leadership, and collaboration among master STEM educators. Applicants must be North Carolina public school teachers with a demonstrated record of excellence in STEM instruction and strong content knowledge. Special consideration is given to teachers working in hard-to-staff or economically deprived classrooms and to those integrating environmental science or climate change into curricula. Applications are being accepted now; the deadline is September 30, 2026.
