Career Enhancement Fellowship

About this program

Funded by the Mellon Foundation and administered by C&S, the Career Enhancement Fellowship supports outstanding junior faculty pursuing innovative research and campus engagement in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. Fellows receive a stipend of up to $35,000, research and travel funding, mentorship, and participation in a scholarly retreat; applications open August 17 and close October 23, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, be in their third year of a tenure-track appointment, work in an eligible field, and have completed no more than two prior tenure-track years at another institution. The fellowship must be accepted for the upcoming academic year and held continuously, with the institution supplementing the stipend to maintain the Fellow’s academic salary and benefits.
