CCCC Emergent Researcher Awards (2026–2027)

About this program

The Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), through NCTE, offers Emergent Researcher Awards of up to $5,000 per project to support early‑career researchers—particularly faculty/instructors without prior funded research or institutional research support—in studies related to literacy, rhetoric, writing instruction and assessment, technologies, social/racial/linguistic justice, transfer, disciplinarity, historiography, development of writers, and related areas. Projects (up to two years) may employ diverse methodologies and must produce two final products (one scholarly, one public); selected recipients will be matched with experienced research mentors. Applicants must be CCCC members at submission, must not have previously received CCCC research funding (previous recipients are ineligible for three years), and may submit only one research proposal per award cycle. Proposals (PDFs) require a narrative (≤5 single‑spaced pages), investigator credentials (≤300 words), a one‑page budget with rationale, and IRB status/plan; awards may cover direct research costs but not overhead/indirect costs or travel to the CCCC Annual Convention, and must be submitted via the application form by 11:59 p.m. ET on 1 September 2026 (decisions by 30 January 2027).
