CCCC Outstanding Teaching Award

About this program

The Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) offers annual Outstanding Teaching Awards recognizing emergent and sustained excellence in teaching first-year college writing; each recipient receives $500 for travel, classroom, or other educational expenses. Eligible applicants are educators whose primary teaching involves first-year composition, basic writing, first-year seminars, developmental writing, or comparable introductory college writing courses. Nominations are due July 1, 2026, and initial application packets—including a cover letter, support letter, teaching philosophy, and CV—are due July 30, 2026; nominees advancing to the second round must submit teaching and assessment portfolios, an observation, and additional support letters by September 15, 2026. Selection emphasizes research-informed, responsive, inclusive, equity-driven teaching and evidence of student learning and agency.
