About this program
The California Department of Social Services offers the San Diego Newcomers Project to support the culturally and linguistically appropriate resettlement, self-sufficiency, and long-term integration of refugees and other eligible noncitizens in San Diego County. A single nonprofit grantee will provide Refugee Cash Assistance and Refugee Support Services to eligible individuals and families who are not potentially eligible for CalWORKs. Applications are open to San Diego County-based nonprofit organizations that meet the minimum eligibility requirements; no matching funds are required. The application deadline is September 18, 2026, for an award period from January 1, 2027, through September 30, 2029.
