Cecil King Travel Scholarships

About this program

The London Mathematical Society offers two Cecil King Travel Scholarships of £6,000 each (funded by the Cecil King Memorial Foundation) to support a period of study or research abroad of roughly three months for early-career mathematicians—one award for any area of mathematics and one for mathematics applied in a discipline outside mathematics. Applicants must be based in the UK or the Republic of Ireland and be registered for a doctoral degree or have completed one within 12 months of the closing date (15 November 2026). Applications require an application form, a written proposal and details of two academic referees whose references must be sent directly to fellowships@lms.ac.uk by the deadline; shortlisted candidates will attend an online interview with a 10–15 minute presentation and 15–20 minutes of questions. The LMS encourages applications from groups under‑represented in UK mathematics.
