CHEST and APCCMPD Medical Educator Diversity Scholar Fellowship Award

About this program

APCCMPD and CHEST fund the Medical Educator Diversity Scholar Fellowship to support ACGME fellows pursuing careers in pulmonary and critical care medical education with mentorship, protected mentor time, coursework, and a one-year medical education research project. Awards provide support for a medical education mentor (0.15 FTE or $35,000), up to $25,000 for fellow training, and up to $25,000 for a one-year education research project. Mentor applicants must be faculty in an APCCMPD-member pulmonary/critical care fellowship at an institution different from the mentee with demonstrated leadership and mentoring in medical education; fellow-in-training applicants must be in good standing in an ACGME-accredited program, show commitment to a medical education career, and applicants from historically underrepresented groups will be prioritized. Mentor applications are open through May 4, 2026; fellow-in-training applications are accepted August 3–November 2, 2026.
