Comitas Award for Significant Applications of Anthropology

The Society for Applied Anthropology offers the Comitas Award for Significant Applications of Anthropology to support community-driven, collaborative projects that address persistent social issues and promote equitable solutions, with awards of up to $10,000 in direct costs. Eligible projects may involve applied research, community networks, anthropological training, or communities of practice, and must demonstrate authentic collaboration, defined community outcomes, and a plan to share results publicly. Applicants must be current SfAA members and submit project, personnel, and detailed budget information without indirect costs by October 1; awardees must present their work at the SfAA Annual Meeting. Preference is given to early-career applicants and projects in the Caribbean or Caribbean diaspora communities.
