Communication Elevation Grant 2027

About this program

The National Communication Association offers the Communication Elevation Grant (CEG) to support research addressing urgent challenges involving academic freedom, censorship, sociopolitical constraints on scholarship, identity, authoritarianism, free speech, protest, and related issues. Awards provide up to $12,500 for projects aligned with NCA’s strategic priorities and are due September 15 for awards in the following year. Applicants must be NCA members, hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree, and have no prior research grant funding since completing that degree; graduate students are ineligible. NCA officers and certain affiliated individuals are ineligible, and applicants with prior external funding (excluding fellowships) cannot apply, while all internal funding must be disclosed.
