Community Responsive Grants Program

About this program

The Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) offers Community Responsive Grants to support community-led projects that address health inequities by removing barriers to health care and improving policies, practices, perceptions, and systems. Awards include one-year planning grants of up to $30,000 or one- to two-year implementation grants of up to $50,000 annually, aligned with MeHAF’s health equity goals. Eligible applicants are Maine-based 501(c)(3) organizations, local, state, or tribal governments, and educational institutions; individuals and private foundations are ineligible. Projects must meaningfully involve affected community members in identifying priorities, leadership, decision-making, and implementation, and funding cannot support academic research, individual grants or scholarships, fundraising, or replacement of lost public funds.
