Conservation and Scientific Research Fellowship

About this program

The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers Conservation and Scientific Research Fellowships for junior and senior conservators and scientists pursuing advanced training or independent research using the Museum’s collections, facilities, libraries, and laboratories. Fellows receive a $53,000 junior or $63,000 senior stipend, $6,000 in travel support, and a health-insurance supplement for the September 2027–August 2028 fellowship period. Eligible applicants include MA graduates, PhD candidates, postdoctoral scholars, and established researchers; junior applicants must hold an MA by September 1, 2026, while senior applicants must hold a PhD by the deadline or have at least eight years of professional experience and a publication record. Applications, including a CV, three recommendations, and required statements or proposals, must be submitted online in English by November 12, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET; applicants must also have or obtain appropriate U.S. work authorization.
