Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) Awards

About this program

The Kentucky IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (KY INBRE) offers Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) developmental awards of up to $20,000 annually for one to three years to support course development, faculty salary, supplies, and equipment. Proposed CUREs must include evaluation and dissemination plans, student training, and a commitment from the applicant’s department chair or dean to sustain the course if effective; proposals should also support deliverables and potential future NIH funding. Eligible applicants are tenured or tenure-track faculty at Kentucky colleges and universities eligible for NIH R15/R16 funding, excluding faculty at the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville. Completed proposals are due December 18, 2026, and must be submitted as a single flattened PDF using the specified NIH Form 398 materials.
