CSA Betty Kirke Excellence in Research Award

About this program

The Costume Society of America (CSA) offers the Betty Kirke Excellence in Research Award annually for an outstanding abstract proposal accepted for presentation at its symposium. The award includes a $750 honorarium, $850 travel stipend, certificate, and waived day-of-presentation registration fee, divided among coauthors. Applicants must be CSA members by the abstract deadline, submit an abstract for an eligible research or creative works presentation, and present in person if selected. Abstracts are evaluated for originality, clarity of purpose, appropriate methods, source variety, significance of findings, and quality of writing; the 2026 abstract deadline is October 15, 2026.
