CSA Millia Davenport Publication Award

About this program

The Costume Society of America’s Millia Davenport Publication Award is an annual prize recognizing outstanding scholarly books or exhibition catalogues on costume, dress, appearance, and fashion, offering a $750 honorarium plus an invitation to present at the CSA National Symposium with a $600 travel stipend and registration covered. Eligible works are newly published printed books or exhibition catalogues in English released between July 15 of the prior year and October 15 of the current year that demonstrate original scholarship, proper citations/bibliographic apparatus, strong organization, and appropriate illustrations. Authors must be citizens of the Americas or have been CSA members for five consecutive years prior to nomination, and for multi-author/edited volumes a majority of contributors must meet this requirement. Nominations (maximum three per nominator) require a single PDF (under 100 MB) uploaded via the CSA online form with publication and nominator contact details and a ~200-word statement of significance; deadline October 15, 2025.
