CSA Small Museum Collection Care Grant

About this program

The Costume Society of America offers annual Small Museum Collection Care Grants of $1,500 to assist small museums, historical societies, historic houses, and similar nonprofit institutions with care, conservation, and exhibition of costume and textile collections (funds may cover supplies, display items, consultant/specialist services, or directly related projects). Eligible applicants must be 501(c) nonprofit organizations with a tangible costume collection, an overall annual operating budget of $300,000 or less, five or fewer staff directly supporting the costume collection, public access at least 40 days per year, and must not have received a CSA Small Museum grant within the prior three years. Applications are submitted as a single PDF via an online form and must include a cover page, a 1,000-word project proposal addressing specified points, the most recent IRS Form 990/990‑EZ, a budget and narrative, 3–5 images, and a consultant letter of intent if applicable; recipients must be or become CSA institutional members or have a staff member who is or becomes an Individual CSA Member, acknowledge CSA in publicity, and submit a one‑page final report with before-and-after images upon completion. Deadline: 1 November 2025; recipients notified by 15 January 2026 and projects must be completed by 30 June 2027.
