CSA Travel Research Grant

About this program

The Costume Society of America offers the annual CSA Travel Research Grant of up to $2,100 to support individual (non‑student) CSA members’ travel to and research at collections, libraries, archives, museums, or other relevant sites in support of an ongoing research project. Applicants must have been CSA members for at least the preceding two years, show that the project is already underway, and provide confirmation from the host site of a research appointment and access; applications are submitted as a single PDF (under 100 MB) via the CSA online form and must include a cover page, a 1,000‑word project proposal (with specified sections), a letter/email from the site, and a two‑page CV. An initial $1,000 is available by the Annual Symposium and the remaining $1,100 is paid after submission of a one‑page report and expense receipts (all funds must be used by March 1, 2027); IRB approval is required before initial payment if human subjects are involved, recipients are encouraged to present or publish their work and must acknowledge CSA.
