Dairy Industry Impact And Innovation (DI3) Faculty Fellowships

UW–Platteville’s Dairy Innovation Hub, funded as part of a $7.8M/yr state investment, is offering DI3 Faculty Fellowships to increase faculty research capacity on dairy industry challenges tied to four priority areas: Steward Land and Water Resources; Enrich Human Health and Nutrition; Ensure Animal Health and Welfare; and Grow Farm Businesses and Communities. Two‑year awards of $10,000–$50,000 support reassigned teaching time (up to 25% with documented backfill), up to one month summer salary per faculty member per year, supplies/equipment up to $10,000/year, and student salary up to $3,000/year, while publication, general conference travel, and most per diem expenses are excluded. Applicants must be current UW–Platteville faculty (limited to involvement in one proposal), demonstrate clear fit to at least one Hub priority and tangible benefits to Wisconsin dairy stakeholders, and disclose prior DIH funding. Proposals must include a project description, timeline, budget and justification, industry letter of support, department chair approval with backfill plan, required ACUC/IRB and Pioneer Farm approvals as applicable, and will require bi‑annual progress reports.
