David Sonenschein Award

About this program

The National Coalition of Independent Scholars (NCIS) offers the David Sonenschein Award to support continuing professional development for independent researchers, including courses, workshops, seminars, and certificate programs provided by credentialed universities or recognized research associations. Funding may support online offerings and is intended especially for scholars in the early stages of their careers. Applicants must be full or associate NCIS members in good standing—or presidents of affiliated partner groups—for at least 15 consecutive months before the deadline, and may not have received another $599 NCIS grant within the preceding 18 months. Applications are due February 1, June 1, or October 1 for spring, summer, and fall awards, respectively.
