Dermatologist Investigator Research Fellowship

About this program

The Dermatology Foundation offers the Dermatologist Investigator Research Fellowship, a $35,000 annual salary stipend to support early-career dermatologists' research training and advancement toward an academic career in medical and surgical dermatology. Award funds are intended for salary (not indirect costs), are not for faculty, and may only be supplemented by department funds, NIH training grants, mentors’ R01/P01 grants, or other granting agencies providing support equivalent to a training grant. Applicants must hold an MD, MD/PhD, or DO, have completed a U.S. dermatology residency (or one year of a four‑year program with a research year during the award), commit at least 75% effort to cutaneous research, and have sponsorship from an ACGME‑approved U.S. dermatology department with a dermatologist mentor on faculty; assistant professor or higher are ineligible. Applications are submitted via the CDAFG Research Award Application Portal with a deadline of October 15, 2026, and applicants from minority and underserved populations are encouraged to apply.
