About this program

Austrian Science Fund (FWF) grants up to €50,000 for stand-alone digital publications — such as apps, wiki-based works, annotated scientific databases, and multimedia web publications — that increase public access to basic research of international relevance. Eligible applicants are researchers from any discipline and must ensure simultaneous open-access publication, demonstrate secured long-term financing for at least six years, and release the publication within 36 months of grant approval. Applications are submitted on a rolling basis via the FWF elane portal and decisions are made by FWF; works deriving from prior FWF-funded projects that have passed FWF quality control may receive an accelerated decision if the publisher provides two positive international peer reviews meeting FWF requirements.
