About this program

The Wenner-Gren Foundation’s Dissertation Fieldwork Grant provides up to $25,000 for research expenses essential to doctoral dissertation projects in anthropology, including travel, fieldwork, living costs, research assistance, participant compensation, and supplies. Eligible applicants must be doctoral students pursuing anthropology or a related discipline with a strong connection to anthropology through an advisor or prior degree, and must identify a dissertation supervisor at their institution. Proposals should present theoretically grounded research, detailed Plan A and Plan B methodologies, an appropriate budget, and plans for required research permits and ethical approvals. Applicants must complete requirements for existing Wenner-Gren awards and may have only one application under review at a time.
