Division 39 Marsha D. McCary Fund Grant for Psychoanalysis

About this program

American Psychological Foundation (APF), in partnership with APA Division 39, invites proposals for the Marsha D. McCary Fund to support one project (award $11,500) that increases public awareness of psychoanalytic principles and treatments through education, research, or service; deadline August 31, 2026. Projects should advance psychoanalytic scholarship and communicate its clinical, organizational, or social value, with preference for work benefiting populations in need (e.g., early‑career professionals, diverse students, clinicians serving underserved groups). Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of psychoanalytic principles and a sustained commitment to public communication of their value; practicing psychoanalytic therapists are eligible but not required, and APF encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds; awardees must submit a follow‑up impact report. Application requires a project proposal, timeline, detailed budget and justification, CV, and two letters of support; applications are submitted via a GivingData account (contact programs@ampsychfdn.org for assistance) and will be evaluated on public impact, project quality/viability, and the effect of the requested funds.
