Doherty Professorship in Ocean Utilization

MIT Sea Grant, with support from the Henry L. and Grace Doherty Charitable Foundation, offers the Doherty Professorship in Ocean Utilization to provide seed research support and professional development for innovative, marine-related research by promising junior MIT faculty. The award provides $75,000 annually for two years, supporting salary, research personnel, travel, materials, services, and approved equipment or foreign travel. Eligible nominees must hold an MIT assistant professor or non-tenured associate professor appointment in any department, pursue an ocean-related issue, and not hold another MIT-funded chair concurrently. Nominations must be submitted by department heads and include a research plan, annual budget, curriculum vitae, and departmental evaluation and endorsement.
