Don and Virginia Eckelberry Endowment for Nature Artists

About this program

The Don and Virginia Eckelberry Endowment, administered by the Academy of Natural Sciences, offers an annual fellowship of approximately $3,000–$5,000 to support nature artists conducting research, travel, or field studies that integrate art and science. Proposed projects must produce a tangible outcome, such as an exhibition, publication, or educational or conservation initiative, and be supported by a third-party institution. Visual artists worldwide working in media other than photography, film, or audio are eligible; applications must include a proposal, budget and timeline, CV, and work samples. Applications are due October 31, 2026, and fellows must submit a final report and quarterly social media content.
