Dr. Gary J. Becker Young Investigator Award

The SIR Foundation's Dr. Gary J. Becker Young Investigator Award recognizes excellence in early-career academic research in interventional radiology by honoring the author of the most outstanding clinical science paper published in JVIR with a $3,000 honorarium plus complimentary registration, transportation, and lodging to the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. Eligible applicants must be the primary author of an original manuscript published in JVIR within the past year, be within seven years of completion of an IR fellowship, hold no higher rank than assistant or associate professor, and be an SIR member in good standing. Required materials include a CV, the published JVIR manuscript, a hi‑resolution photo, a statement of the applicant’s contributions to IR/patient care/teaching, and a letter of support from the program director or department chair (with an additional SIR-member endorsement if that signer is not an SIR member). Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. ET on November 15, 2026, and are reviewed by SIR Foundation officers and research directors.
