Dr. Shawky Salem Conference Grant (SSCG)

Offered by Dr. Shawky Salem and administered by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), the Dr. Shawky Salem Conference Grant provides annual support for one library and information science expert from Arab countries to attend the IFLA Annual Conference, covering up to USD 1,900 for economy airfare, conference registration, hotel, and per diem. Applicants must be Arab nationals aged 45 or under with at least five years' LIS experience and have approval from their organisation; priority is given to first-time IFLA attendees and previous SSCG winners are ineligible. Applications (2026 forms available in English and Arabic) must be submitted to grants@ifla.org by 31 March, selection is completed by 30 April with the winner informed in May, and the grantee is required to submit a conference report in three copies.
