About this program
The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) offers Draw This!, a monthly art prompt that gives illustrators visibility through an online gallery, SCBWI’s Insight e-newsletter, website, and social media. Two selected works are highlighted each month, with the August 2026 prompt centered on “TROPICAL”; this is a recognition and exposure opportunity rather than a monetary award. Applicants must be current SCBWI members and submit child-market-appropriate artwork inspired by the prompt through the SCBWI Illustrator Gallery, Bluesky, and/or Instagram using #scbwiDrawThis by the last day of the month. Submissions may use any medium, color treatment, or format, and multiple entries are permitted.
