Ellen Luken Student Award

About this program

The Ruth K. Broad Biomedical Research Foundation, in partnership with the Shepard Broad Foundation, offers Ellen Luken Student Awards of typically up to $1,500 to support Duke neuroscience students pursuing extracurricular educational, career-building, and networking opportunities. Funds may cover registration or course fees, travel, lodging, materials, and related expenses, with applications reviewed six times annually on February 1, April 1, June 1, August 1, October 1, and December 1. Eligible applicants are third-year or later PhD or MD/PhD students conducting neuroscience research in basic science or clinical departments at the Duke School of Medicine, with particular encouragement for work related to neurodegeneration and Alzheimer’s disease. Applications must include a half-page opportunity description, program dates and application status, an expense summary, and a CV; awardees must submit a brief report within 30 days of completing the activity.
