Emergency Relief Fund — Charlottesville Emergency Relief Fund for Artists

About this program

New City Arts and The Bridge, with seed funding from The FUNd at CACF, administer the Charlottesville Emergency Relief Fund for Artists to provide one-time emergency grants of up to $300 to local artists who lost income because of the COVID-19 pandemic. A 2022 contribution from Jeff Sweatman enabled additional $300 grants awarded on a first-come, first-served basis; the fund has distributed roughly $53,195 to 184 artists to date and past Relief Fund recipients are eligible to apply. Eligible applicants are Charlottesville-area artists who experienced COVID-19–related income loss (e.g., canceled gigs, commissions, performances, lack of paid leave, or caregiving due to exposure/illness). Applications are handled through the program’s application process; no application deadline is specified.
