Emerging Markets: Navigating a Fragmented Global Economy

The National Bureau of Economic Research, together with the Banco Central de Costa Rica and the Fondo Latinoamericano de Reservas, invites paper submissions for a conference on "Emerging Markets: Navigating a Fragmented Global Economy" to be held December 10–11, 2026 in San José, Costa Rica, seeking research on topics such as trade and geo-economic fragmentation, capital flows and FDI, sovereign and corporate debt, monetary policy, and climate vulnerabilities. Papers must be uploaded by 11:59 pm ET on September 8, 2026, should not have been accepted for publication or be scheduled for publication by December 2026, and NBER submissions should avoid prescriptive policy recommendations or normative judgments. Early-career researchers and non-NBER affiliates are welcome; authors selected for presentation will be notified in late September 2026, and NBER will cover hotel and economy-class travel for one author per paper (other co-authors attend at their own expense).
