About this program

Washington State University’s CAHNRS Office of Research administers internal competitive grants through five targeted programs: Emerging Research Initiative, Applied Bioenergy (Appendix A), Washington Oilseed Cropping Systems (Appendix A), Orville A. Vogel Wheat Research Fund, and the Cider Research Program. Funding supports applied agricultural research in Washington—examples include dairy-waste anaerobic digestion, oilseed cropping for biofuels, wheat yield and varietal development, and cider fruit/production improvements—with awards of $60K–$150K and project periods of two to three years. Program-specific requirements include coordination with designated WSU units for some awards (e.g., Dept. of Crops and Soils or the WSU ARC for Applied Bioenergy) and submission windows or multi-year cycles (Emerging in November; Appendix A programs in early fall; Vogel and Cider on three-year cycles; Oilseed on odd years). Applicants must be Washington State University researchers.
