The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers the Eugene V. Thaw Fellowship for Collections Cataloguing, a 12-month, full-time position in the Department of European Paintings beginning September 1, 2027. The fellowship trains emerging museum professionals in collections cataloguing, provenance and exhibition-history research, bibliographic documentation, and The Museum System database, with compensation equivalent to $53,000 annually, benefits, and up to $2,000 for approved research travel or projects. Applicants must hold an MA or be pursuing a PhD, possess basic language skills relevant to their research area, and be available for full-time residence at The Met; postdoctoral and senior scholars are ineligible. Applications, including a statement, writing sample, CV, transcripts, and three recommendation letters, must be submitted online in English by October 16, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET.
