E.W. "Al" Thrasher Awards

About this program

The Thrasher Research Fund offers E.W. “Al” Thrasher Awards for innovative, hypothesis-driven pediatric research that can produce practical improvements in child health and clinical care, with projects eligible worldwide. Awards support projects of up to three years, typically ranging from $420,000 to $600,000, with indirect costs capped at 7% of direct costs. Principal investigators must hold a doctoral-level degree and have appropriate research experience; there are no citizenship or residency restrictions. Applications undergo a two-step concept paper and full proposal process, and projects must focus on child health outcomes rather than excluded areas such as behavioral interventions, education, animal or cell-line studies, or disease mechanisms alone.
