Excellence in Mentoring Award

About this program

The Seismological Society of America’s Excellence in Mentoring Award honors an individual who has provided exceptional, sustained mentorship advancing earthquake science and engineering, including efforts that promote professional growth, inclusion, and a welcoming community. The annual award recognizes one SSA member at any career stage and is honorary rather than a research funding opportunity. Nominees must be regular or honorary SSA members in good standing, while nominees may not be SSA Board members, member-elects, or officers at the nomination deadline. Nominations, submitted by an eligible SSA member by September 30, must include a two-page nomination letter, the nominee’s CV or résumé, two to four support letters, impact documentation, and a signed disclosure form.
